“For the Beauty of the Earth”
I love how October brings more beauty with the change of color. It reminds me of one of my favorite songs. “For the beauty of the Earth, For the glory of the skies, For the love which from our birth Over and around us lies. For the wonder of each hour, of the day and the night, Hill and vale and tree and flower, Sun and moon, and stars of light.” From an early age, I loved nature, and it continues to inspire me with its wonder and beauty.
I recently read Wendell Berry’s quote, “the earth is what we all have in common.” So, it would be rewarding if we all worked together, helping to take care of the splendor on our Earth. But unfortunately, I don’t believe we think enough about our responsibility to be good stewards of the Earth. Now we are slowly waking up and realizing that we have work to do. Whether it’s planting trees, recycling our paper and plastics, and using all LED lights, are just a few ways to do our part. Every bit helps, but I hope we’re not too late!
Many people share their concerns and ask what they can do to make a difference. One by one, we can help to participate in helping save the Earth. Check locally, where you live, to find out what you can do.
In what ways are you interested in helping to take care of our beautiful Earth?
“When you wake up, and you see that the Earth is not just the environment, the Earth is us; you touch the nature of interbeing. And at that moment, you can have real communication with the Earth. We have to wake up together. And if we wake up together, then we have a chance. Our way of living our lives and planning our futures has led us into this situation. And now we need to look deeply to find a way out, not only as individuals but as a collective, a species.”— Thich Nhat Hanh.
“I only feel angry when I see waste. When I see people throwing away things we could use.”—Mother Teresa.
“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” -George Bernard Shaw
Well said Sister!
Thank you sister!
Right on, all of your thoughts here. We are ALL ONE and when we realize that and merge with nature, we have begun the first step, the most important one.
Thank you, Priscilla. It sure would be grand for everyone to get to that realization that “we are all one.”
Listen to Mother Earth; she’s quite clear about what’s holding us back. The evidence is everywhere and we look the other way.
