A Mindset
I recently read the philosophy of NOOM, which suggests learning new eating habits and changing our behavior without dieting. For example, when to eat, what to eat, and how much to eat. It might sound like common sense, but changing old habits can be challenging. Growing up on a farm, we ate three meals a day and did not have many snacks between meals. We worked off the calories in no time. NOOM proclaims that how we choose to eat is a mindset.
The word mindset means: “the established set of attitudes held by someone.” In other words, it can influence how we think, feel, and behave in any given situation. Attitude plays a huge part. If you honestly believe you cannot do something, it probably won’t happen. On the other hand, if you think you are willing to learn and grow, most likely, you will succeed.
The word “mindset” can apply to all areas of life, but it takes practice. I begin each day with a mindset to be more grateful, kind, and caring. I like to turn it into a game to see how well I can stay on track. Some days, I fail, but then I start over. I need to take care of myself first, which helps when I reach out to others. Practice makes better!
We have to be open-minded to acquire a healthy “mindset.”
“The mind is just like a muscle – the more you exercise it, the stronger it gets and the more it can expand.” ~ Idowu Koyenikan,
Great post Sandy! I heard a line in a movie the other day that really stuck with me and it’s on the same subject. The character said, “Train the mind and the body will follow.” I like your quote by Idowu Koyenikan too. Thanks for the inspiration today!
Thank you, Jen, I appreciate your thoughts, I fell in love with that word and went with it.
Love the inspiration! Mother did a great job of keeping our bellies full then sending us out to weed the garden and flower beds to work it all off. It’s great to have all these tools to keep us in a happy place! Thank you Dear Sister!
Looking forward to your next blog!
Thank you, Dawn, for your comments. You are correct, we were well fed and we learned so many good things while growing up. I’m so glad I have a place to dig in the dirt here. 🙂
